Rules from carrier materials, Oct 2026: guaranteed acceptance bands 45–85 (50–85 at several carriers), amounts typically to $25,000; simplified-issue final expense with health questions typically 50–85 and to $50,000. The carrier's application decides.

Who Actually Needs Guaranteed Issue

  • Declined by a simplified-issue carrier in the last two years
  • Currently in cancer treatment, on dialysis or oxygen, with heart failure, or diagnosed with dementia
  • Recent (under 12–24 months) stroke, heart attack or major surgery
  • HIV, organ transplant, or a terminal diagnosis
  • Anyone over 80 who cannot pass the questions

Everyone else should get a simplified-issue quote first. An agent does this in one call.

Accidental death policies are not life insurance. They pay only if death is ruled accidental. Ads that promise large amounts for a few dollars a month are usually accidental death products. They can be a sensible add-on; they are never a replacement.
